can this site run cgi's --- www.arizonalibertarian.org
to:Warren Michelsen

mike dugger told me to contact you about this.

mike dugger maintains this site

http://www.arizonalibertarian.org

which is the web page of the arizona libertarian party.

i would like to add a web page that will allow officers of the libertarian party to send press releases via email to both media contacts and our party members thru this site.

to do that i will need one or two perl scripts which will execute the unix sendmail program to send the press releases. basicly a web page will be displayed where the person pastes the text of the press release, the subject of the press release, the email address of who is sending the press release and when they click on the submit button a perl cgi program will take the entered data and give it along with the list of email address to sendmail which will then send out the emails.

is the site www.arizonalibertarian.org allowed to run cgi's such as this? and if so what are the details on how to use them? (can i stick them in the main directory, or do i have to place them in a cgi-bin directory as at some sites?) also if i add this tool will their be any extra costs?

if this can be done:

1) what do i have to do to place my web pages and perl code on the site? can i telnet in, or do i have to ftp everything to the site?

2) initially we will probably send out 1000 emails to a month announcing our monthly meetings. the emails will probably be 2000 characters or less with not pictures. will this cause any increases in the cost of the site?

thanks

mike
